Volcanic ash & toxic gases continue to spew over Ubinas covering the surrounding countryside with volcanic ash. Over 29,000 people in Southern Peru down to Bolivian border have evacuated closing over 617 schools and 20 health clinics. Llamas, Alpacas, Vicunas and farm animals are in extreme danger after the volcano’s activity layered the pastures with ash deposits. The herds are the main source of income for many residents in this area. The government has declared a state of emergency for the next 60 days and is setting up tent cities about 12 miles away for the evacuees.
