Kemuel Emergency Brain Surgery (Induced Coma)

Dad Carlos was driving family delivery truck with 15 year old son Kemuel in bed of truck when an accident launched Kemuel onto road striking his head. You may recall, Carlos lost his leg in tragic taxi accident many years ago. His family lives in local brick yard and is part of our feeding program due to his family circumstance living in an area of extreme poverty. Carlos was driving, wife/Mom Elam was in front of their Mini-Moto-truck (one wheel in front) and Kemuel was riding in rear bed of truck. The impact of the accident launched Kemuel onto the road striking his head. Kemuel was taken to our local hospital and put into an induced coma. The brain swelling last night required emergency surgery to relieve the pressure. We are praying for a miracle and wisdom for the hospital staff, respectfully, this is a third world hospital with limited resources and experience treating brain injuries. We are assisting the family with your help. Please pray for the family and the LORD’s will.

LIVE SIMPLY FOR ORPHANS INVADES COLOMBIA WITH SHOEBOXES!

Bienvenidos/Welcome to Bucaramanga Colombia, Cristy’s hometown! We returned for an extended visit at her parents apartment during our summer break in Peru ( school at orphanage is out Jan Feb March) Our Colombian family has a long history of serving here, a love of the Colombian culture, heritage and family pride! Taking care of Cristy’s Mom and Dad (now in their eighties) has become our honor and privilege. Cristy and I went to some of the toughest areas of the city to serve.

We were invited to help with Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child distribution in Santander, Colombia!  This initial project supports our desire to also develop sustainable projects with Live Simply for Orphans  in Colombia in conjunction with our ministry in Arequipa, Peru and beloved special needs orphanage. Packing and giving a simple shoebox is an easy way to share hope, purpose and the gospel. The local church pastors give these gift filled shoes boxes to each child, inviting their families/neighbors to come while building the local church. We helped distribute to over 240 churches with 21,700 cartons..Your support has allowed us to run four different La Gran Aventura Classes/The Greatest Journey Discipleship Classes helping several street churches with no buildings, a soccer team for troubled youth and another local church in raw area! Our Operation Christmas Child distribution network team in Peru continues to thrive distributing about 7,000 gift boxes in areas of extreme poverty! We have been blessed to support this project since 2018! We thank everyone for the boxes, prayers and resources through Samaritans Purse every season!

Live Simply MMI Medical Clinic For Vunerable Families

For the last 2 weeks, Live Simply in partnership with MMI Perú Medical & Eye Clinic Team served over 900 vulnerable families with eye care, eye surgeries, dental care, prosthetic eyes, providing hope, dignity and the love of Christ ! Cristy and I were able to translate and share the Gospel in the prosthetic “glass eye” area at this year’s clinic. Meet our friend Gino and see the life change the Lord has given him with a “new” eye. Gino fell on a bottle at 3 and lost his eye, his single Mom traveled 4 hours by bus to help her son. Your love made this possible!

New Apartment Room at Orphanage

Bienvenidos to our special needs orphanage ! Follow me up the stairs to our new room. We were able to clean out this room, fix up our mini kitchen with propane stove & microwave. We grabbed new kids sheets for our beds while we serve here.

Its so cool, every morning the kids stand outside our room calling for us to come downstairs. We help with morning snack before school. We ended this day with our single Mom Irma having dinner in our room. Lights out at 700pm for the kids as we crawl into our Looney Tunes bed for some rest. We are humbled by the Lord’s provision and love. We will be serving in an eye clinic over the next two weeks, pray for the gospel to be heard by everyone during this Christ centered event. We will be able to get help for each special need and single mom family we serve during this outreach.

We are thankful for your help allowing us to share life here.

Our Beloved Briana Surgery Update: Praying she may walk one day!

BREAKING NEWS!!! We just received some great news for our beloved Briana, we are moving forward already with her needed surgery ! We have been scrambling to make this happen, renting the room, equipment, purchasing the supplies …….Dr. Romero is willing to schedule this surgery immediately (May 17, 2024) due to delicate condition and our Live Simply relationship. Briana will have surgery for her hip dysplasia and her club foot right during the same procedure. Originally the plan was to use a casting method to correct the club foot but Dr. Romero is advising surgery is needed due to her age and the severity of the foot, then a series of casting solutions.

Remember, Dr. Romero is considered a world class surgeon from Lima, Peru (which is 20 hours away!) He has a waiting list of almost 200 for his surgery expertise with children. He blessed our Dominic 2 years ago, turning his backwards knees around forward allowing him to walk! He also did Dante’s surgery last year on his hip to fix and correct failed surgeries performed by lesser skilled surgeons. Dante is now beginning to walk with a walker and only a brace on his lower leg.

Your help allowed Live Simply to assist with her successful Spina Bifida surgery! We now are focused on funding this hip and club foot surgery for Briana. This is a life changer for Briana, just the possibility of walking is incredible! Her single Mom Yesenia cannot even begin to cover the cost but we trust this is the Lord’s will. Yesenia is working and now living with her Mom/Grandma now to save money. Unfortunately, she is not receiving support for the procedure from Briana’s father since he abandoned  them. We appreciate your love and last minute support for this beautiful little girl.

Join us in prayer to help make this dream  and  life changing surgery come true! We have detailed breakdown of all costs for her surgery. Let’s pray Briana will be able to walk one day!
